Used Lube Oil Re-Refining
Used Lube Oil Re-Refining: Transforming Waste into High-Performance Assets
Our "Waste to Wealth" Commitment
At Avatar Petrochemicals, we don't view used oil as a disposal problem; we see it as a valuable feedstock. Our Used Lube Oil Re-Refining service is the cornerstone of our circular economy model. Since 2009, we have provided industries across India with a sustainable pathway to manage their hazardous waste while recovering high-quality lubricants that meet virgin oil specifications.
Through a combination of technical innovation and operational excellence, we help our clients minimize their environmental footprint and comply with stringent Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) regulations.
The Technical Process: Step-by-Step Excellence
Our refining facility at SIDCO, Thimmarasanaikanur utilizes a multi-stage process that removes all contaminants and restores the oil's molecular integrity.
1. Dehydration & Light Fuel Stripping
The process begins with heating the used oil in a closed vessel to approximately 120°C. This boils off emulsified water and light fuel diluents. The captured light fuels are often reused within our own facility, making our process highly energy-efficient.
1. Vacuum Distillation (Fractionation)
The dehydrated oil is fed into a vacuum distillation plant. At atmospheric pressure, lube oil would decompose before it vaporizes. Under a powerful vacuum, we lower the boiling point, allowing us to separate the oil into distinct fractions:
- Light Diesel/Fuel Oil: Used for industrial burners.
- Lubricating Oil Core: The primary target for re-refining.
- Residue: Heavier components used as bitumen extenders for road construction.
3. Solvent Extraction & Finishing
To achieve "bright and clear" oil, the distilled fraction undergoes solvent extraction or hydro-treatment. This removes aromatic contaminants, odor, and color-causing molecules, resulting in a Re-Refined Base Oil (RRBO) that is chemically identical to refined virgin oil.
